maps.

was reading a magazine (think it was InStyle), and saw images of Francisco Costa’s home. he’s the designer for Calvin Klein, and judging from his work, you’d expect lots of stark white and hard edges.. but it actually is quite cozy.

anyhow, the greatest part about his home is the artwork he collects. one of my favorites was his collection of Guillermo Kitca’s work. This artist uses architectural & cartographical techniques to make his images…

Guillermo Kitca : Red Theater

this is actually a map of the seating arrangements in an opera theater.. how lovely.

Finding this image online got me on the hunt for more beautiful maps, and found these two:

Guillermo Kitca : Untitled (2008)

Mark Bradford : The Flies

A.M. : NYPL

spot the amateur above… it’s me. : )
that was a library mapping i did with a friend in school a few years ago… after seeing the other works, i’d love to make it more dense. putting it on my to-do list.

Hello! I was in search of something and found my way to your blog. The artworks Kitca are amazing but I found your mapping interesting too. I was wondering what that was a result of? i.e What building and what technique?
    Thanks!
